Mission: To Inspire, Impact, and Cultivate young men living in impoverished and crime ridden communities throughout the U.S.
Vision: To Change The Trajectories Of Young Men’s Lives In the U.S. Who Are Overwhelmed With Violence, Inequality, and Hopelessness.
The What: MHG is proud to launch an initiative that is grounded in impacting communities throughout the U.S. The Save A “Sun” Project is focused on young men between the ages of 8-18 in impoverished and crime ridden communities. The goal of this program is to provide resources for community programs and funding for young men that may need school supplies, clothing, food, transportation, and funding for programs that can keep them off the streets. Additionally, MHG will conduct financial literacy workshops in the communities it serves to “Level Up” the education surrounding real money.
The Why: Thomas C. Martin, a Chicago native, understands the insurmountable odds many young men face growing up fatherless in violent communities. Many young men are subjugated to gangs, drugs, and crime to survive due to the lack of resources. Unfortunately, throughout the years Thomas C. Martin has seen many in his neighborhoods lose their way to death or the penal system. He fiercely believes that if you can reach a child at the impressionable age of 8 and begin to mentor him, you have the opportunity to change the trajectory of his destiny. He believes this because he was fortunate enough to have multiple individuals do this for him. Reciprocity is an understatement. This is something that resides in the corridors of Thomas C. Martin’s heart.
The How: MHG is looking to raise $25000.00 once our 501 (c) (3) formation is complete. Promo will begin in the fall of 2023 to initially fund two communities:
East Rogers Park, Chicago, IL: $15,000
Imperial and Euclid Community, San Diego, CA : $10,000.00
Chicago (Rodgers Park Community $15,000)
The Rodger’s Park Community has had its share of violence and poverty. Thomas C. Martin grew up in this community and witnessed firsthand, the gulf between having resources to survive and those who had provision. He is determined to reach in this neighborhood and shift the dynamic. The funds for this initiative will be allocated as such:
Allocations
$5,000.00 Summer Programs (Sports, Education, Travel Programs)
$3,500.00 Food Programs (12 Month Allocation)
$3,000.00 School Supplies & Clothes
$2,500.00 Transportation (CTA & PACE Passes)
$1,000.00 (Management Expense)
San Diego, CA (Imperial and Euclid/ National City $10,000)
In the early 90’s this area was saturated with poverty and a criminal element. Thomas C. Martin resided in this dangerous neighborhood and survived it through mentorship and opportunity. While things may have changed to some degree there is still a contingent of young men that need help. MHG and The Save A “Sun” Project will help.
